Become a Mentee

 Requirements to be a mentee:

  • Below 40 years or age or less than 5 years in practice.
  • One must be a member of COECSA; full member for practicing ophthalmologists and associate member for residents.
  • Willing to make a commitment to the program mentor and stick to it.
  • Must be motivated, have a positive attitude, and willing to put in the time and effort it takes.
  • Have well defined goals and needs in regard to their career path.
  • Willing to take the primary responsibility of keeping up the mentor-mentee relationship.
  • Expect guidance, not a problem-solver.
  • Be open and receptive to constructive feedback from the mentors and fellow mentees.
  • Willing to participate in the Association’s activities.
  • A group of Young Ophthalmologists at Maanzoni Lodge

  • Willing to listen, and is patient.
NOTE:
  • All residents in institutions in the member countries will be eligible to join the forum regardless of their country of origin.
  • Membership will be voluntary.
  • Membership to the forum is free; no membership fee.
Responsibilities of a mentee:
  • Willing to participate in the YO Forum’s activities including the online forums.
  • Motivated, has a positive attitude, and willing to put in the time and effort it takes.

Succession/ exit:
  • Inactive membership- failure to participate in the forum’s activities.
  • Inactive relationship with the mentors.
  • Failure to pay subscription fee (if any).
  • After 5 years as a mentee, one will be given the chance to become a mentor.
  • A mentee who has less than 5 years in the mentorship program can participate in
  • unstructured mentorship.
